In the dark, down a long, winding track,
our family embarked on a glow worm walk.
There was a hush in the air. Partly because we’d been told to stay quiet, and partly because the setting demanded it.
Silhouetted against the intermittent torchlight we used to navigate the initial distance, I captured this image of one of my children walking hand in hand with Dad. Isn’t it precious?
We knew, as we walked, that just slightly to our left the path dropped away drastically into the water below. The trek was a little terrifying, if I’m honest. Yet beautiful; mesmerisingly so.
Every moment was worth it to catch glimpses of the star-like clusters of tiny glow worms on our way.
Today, you might be straining your eyes to see the treasures in the darkness. It’s my prayer that you will. That you’ll see them. That you’ll come away encouraged, and able to take one more step.
Even if it’s only one.
Let this be your reminder that even where there is darkness,
even in the shadows,
you are not alone.
There is One who holds your hand more closely than you can ever cling to His,
if you’ll let Him.
